Topps Tiles sales dipped by 5.1% in the seven weeks to end April 2010, with like for like sales down 4.3%, however overall sales for the half year to end April showed an increase on the same period in 2009 to £91.4 million from £87.6 million (albeit for a 27 week period against a 26 week one in the year before).
Gross margins were also slightly down due to the weakening of the pound against the dollar and the euro in recent months from 60.4% to 58.8%.
The group's management expressed caution with regard to the ongoing state of the UK economy with consumers still cautious about spending amid financial uncertainty.
